This species belongs to the sub-family of Satyrinae, commonly known as the Browns. It is estimated that the true number of Satyrinae species may exceed 2,400. They are generally weak fliers and often shun bright sunlight. The caterpillars feed chiefly on monocotyledonous plants such as palms, grasses and bamboos.
Esta especie pertenece a la subfamilia de las Satyrinae; comúnmente conocida como la de las mariposas marrones. Se estima que el número real de las especies que comprende las Satyrinae excedan las 2,400. Son generalmente voladoras un tanto débiles y rechazan la luz solar directa. Las orugas se alimentan principalmente de plantas monocotiledóneas tales como palmeras, pastos y bambúes.
